A small tissue biopsy is obtained from the patients thigh. The patient`s autologous cells are isolated encymatically from the tissue biopsy and expanded in cell culture. After about 4 weeks a sufficient cell number has been obtained to recolonize our acellular biolocial scaffold. Shortly, the autologous cells start to reconstruct the scaffold by replacing the xenogenic extracellular matrix with innate connective tissue. Within 2 weeks an entirely autologous tissue forms inside of the cultivation chamber and is available for clinical transplantation.
